To minimize effects of extreme weathers

August 13, 2025

Various kinds of extreme weather conditions with high risk of disasters are becoming increasingly frequent as time passes.

Especially, damages caused by high temperature, sultry weather and heat wave have been growing this year in different parts of the world.

Currently, high temperatures are persisting in the DPRK.

The country is consistently pushing ahead with the effort for minimizing natural disasters of different kinds, always regarding it as an important task.

Natural disasters were declared as one of the crises which must be dealt with in a responsible manner for the existence and development of the state and the security of the people, and mobilization ability and potentials are developed in a planned way.

All sectors and units of the national economy regard it as a fait accompli that such natural disasters as typhoons, floods, tsunamis, landslides and lightning are bound to happen, and prepare everyone to be able to cope with sudden disasters and crises properly.

The agricultural sector is most vulnerable to natural disasters.

In keeping with the changing weather conditions, efforts are directed to taking preventive measures against unfavourable situations that may inhibit the growth of crops.

Major efforts are continuously channelled into ensuring the rapid and accurate forecast of crop growth, and farms are taking agro-technical measures to this end.

The online farming technology question-and-answer service helps farmers put farming processes on a scientific and technological basis in conformity with the conditions of the rainy season.

The monitoring and forecasting work is intensified to cope with the high risk of harmful insect infestations in the rainy season, while prompt measures are taken to control them.

Efforts are also directed to regular repair and management of the dangerous sections of reservoirs and sea dykes to prevent flooding of farmlands and damage from tsunami, and the repair and maintenance of irrigation facilities are conducted in a responsible manner.

Agro-technical measures are also taken to ensure safe harvest by manuring and tending crops in a scientific way during the rainy season.

Destructive natural disasters can well be prevented.

The damage can definitely be minimized if a well-regulated system of crisis management is established to predict and actively respond to the factors that may cause natural disasters on the basis of the conscious unity of action of all people.
