Delegation of State Duma of Russian Federation arrives in Pyongyang.
August 15, 2025A delegation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation led by Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin arrived in Pyongyang on August 14 to pay a congratulatory visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at the invitation of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.
Pyongyang International Airport was wrapped up in a warm welcome atmosphere to greet the envoys of a close neighbouring country visiting Pyongyang with the friendly feelings of the Russian people amid the definite development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries into the invincible ties of alliance.
The national flags of the DPRK and the Russian Federation were fluttering at the flagstaffs and the guards of honour of the Korean People's Army lined up at the stopping place before the terminal of the airport.
Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, was out at the airport.
The delegation was warmly greeted by Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly, Pak In Chol, speaker of the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Jong Gyu, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Ri Chol, president of the Academy of Medical Sciences under the Ministry of Public Health who is also chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Parliamentary Group, Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy.
The delegation headed for lodging quarters, receiving a warm welcome from the people.
