With the whole country vigorously advancing towards building a powerful socialist country, the building of the space industry has also gathered momentum.

To build the space industry constitutes a core element in exploring a short cut to lifting the DPRK to the position of a powerful country with world-class economic power and science and technology.

The country proudly rose to the position of a manufacturer and launcher of artificial earth satellites by relying on its own efforts and technologies and, on the basis of the technologies and experience gained in the course of it, successfully put into orbit its first application satellite on December 12 2012.

As the earth observation satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2, which was designed, manufactured, assembled, launched and observed by its own efforts 100 percent, was successfully launched, it definitely entered the ranks of nations possessing application satellites.

The DPRK Law on Space Development was promulgated in April 2013 and the then National Aerospace Development Administration was organized in accordance with it. The activities for space development were performed more vigorously under the unified guidance of the state.

Seminars on space science and technology were regularly held to consolidate the successes achieved in the field of space science and technology and there is a growing trend to pioneer a new scientific field of key importance in space development and use.

What is noteworthy is that all people show a great interest in building the space industry and make positive contributions to it.

Kim Yu Gyong, a student at Yonggwang Middle School in Central District of Pyongyang who showed her handwriting by brush “Malligyong (telescope in English)-1” to the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un at the schoolchildren’s New Year performance last year, continues to send her calligraphic works and letters to the National Aerospace Technology Administration to encourage the space scientists and technicians.
