August 29, 2025

Knockdown, collapsible and suspended furniture items were much sought after at the National Exhibition of Sci-tech achievements in the Field of Furniture and Finishing Building Materials-2025.

The multi-functional bookcase presented by the Hyongjesan District science and technology committee in Pyongyang makes effective use of space and is very convenient for use.

The height of the bookcase can be adjusted to suit the user’s need and its parts can be knocked down so that it can be installed in a narrow space.

In particular, its wheels make it easy to move and handle and the manufacture cost has been reduced by recycling wood left from furniture making and interior construction of dwelling houses. Another characteristic of the furniture piece is its simple and robust structure compared to conventional bookcases.

The booth of the Pyongyang Timber Processing Factory was crowded with technicians in the furniture-making field who were hoping for technical exchange with the factory as its kitchen furniture including combined cupboard, dining table and chairs had a high rate of saving wood.

Many orders were made during the exhibition for sofas, beds and other furniture presented by the Yonggwang Furniture Joint Venture Company, which were more luxurious and refined than those of other units and could be expanded and reduced to change their purposes.

The far-infrared carbon-nano heater and its applied products, including carbon-nano radiator, household sauna and treatment chair, presented by the State Academy of Sciences were highly appreciated by visitors.

These energy-saving and eco-friendly products are used for healthcare and prevention of diseases and have remarkable effects in the medical treatment based on far-infrared rays ideal for the human body.

The furniture modelling in interior decoration of dwelling houses, the styles and composition of furniture in office buildings, the furniture modelling in the educational sector and many other furniture designs presented by the National Design Administration attracted the attention of experts.
