Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, published an article in the Russian newspaper Rossiskaya Gazeta on August 29 to denounce the shameless behaviour of the West as regards the Afghan issue.

He asserted that Western countries should bear full responsibility and most burdens in the rehabilitation of Afghanistan which underwent enormous suffering.

But the West is putting a brake on the development of Afghanistan and politicizing the issue of providing humanitarian assistance to the country, linking the issue with its selfish end, he exposed.

He disclosed that Western special agencies keep sending villains to Afghanistan and are trying to destabilize the situation in the border regions of Russia, China and Iran with the help of extremist groups hostile to the Afghan government.

He also accused Western countries, which lost their status in the Afghan region, of attempting to restore NATO’s military infrastructure facilities in the region.
