Theses clarify fundamental issues of education for the first time
September 5, 2025Many people had long talked about the importance of education.
Lots of politicians and personages in the world had pointed to the importance of education, but nobody else specified the fundamentals of education.
President
In the theses the President formulated education as the work of training people as independent and creative persons and clearly indicated the ways to train genuine human beings by clarifying the idea of strengthening political and ideological education, scientific and technological education and sports education, the idea of developing preschool education, school education and adult education simultaneously and the idea of strengthening the universal compulsory education system, the universal free education system, the study-while-you-work education system and the state system to nursing and educating children.
Putting forward a unique idea on the most comprehensive and sustainable all-people education for the first time in history, the President formulated heuristic teaching, the combination of theoretical and practical education, the combination of education and productive labour and the simultaneous development of school, social and adult education as socialist modes of education and created practical models.
During the Fatherland Liberation War, factory colleges, part of a new educational system unprecedented in human history, were founded in the DPRK. Later in the country there was institutionally established an excellent educational system whereby everyone can study at will under the well-regulated study-while-you-work higher education system, including farm college and fishermen’s college, and under the reeducation system.
Various educational activities, including reading service, scientific and theoretical lectures, sci-tech lectures, new technical information lectures and requested lectures, were conducted at libraries and halls built in different parts of the country, including the Grand People's Study House, a palace of all-people learning, in close combination with school education.
As seen above, the well-regulated all-people study and education systems, which are aspired to by many countries of the world, were established in the DPRK decades ago.
That is why the representative of UNESCO at the “seminar on the national act programme for all-people education” held in Pyongyang 20-odd years ago praised the DPRK, where the universal 11-year compulsory education was in force, as the only country which had already attained long before the organization’s goal of realizing all-people education and lifelong education until 2015 and as a country of learning and education.
Indeed, as President
