Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of various sectors.

At the construction site of 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in the Hwasong area, he learned in detail about the overall project progress and stressed the need for the construction units to give top priority to ensuring quality and, in particular, to conduct more scrupulous operation and command so that all the undertakings including the finishing projects of public buildings and landscaping are carried out as required by designs and construction methods.

Acquainting himself with the paper production of the Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill and the process of its modernization, he called for steadily improving the quality indices of paper by directing efforts to boosting the scientific and technological force and for pushing ahead with the construction work and equipment assembly according to each project and system as reflected in the modernization goal.

Going round the railway section between Jongmunri Railway Station and Wihwa Island and the embankment on the shore of the Amnok River, he stressed the need to pay attention to qualitatively building the yard of Wihwado Railway Station and ensuring the intensity of railway so as to improve its functionality and practicality as the station is built into a comprehensive transport centre.

At the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, the premier called for decisively improving the quality of castings and steel castings from the process of producing materials and for actively introducing advanced processing methods to satisfactorily produce and supply custom-built equipment necessary for various sectors of the national economy.

The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of ensuring timely supply of materials necessary for the construction of 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in the Hwasong area and supervising the construction in a responsible manner, the issue of attaching importance to the management of talents and realizing the integration of production and scientific research at enterprises and the issue for relevant units to actively organize the work for producing goods under contract.
