The UN General Assembly adopted on September 12 a resolution approving the New York declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the achievement of the two states solution.

The New York declaration, which was circulated at the high-level international conference held at the United Nations late in July, reflects the matters related to the peaceful settlement of the Palestine-Israel dispute and the realization of the two states solution.

The Palestinian permanent observer to the UN expressed thanks to the countries that supported the adoption of the declaration and called on the parties still opting for war and destruction to lend an ear to the voice of reason.

Prior to the vote, the US opposed the New York declaration as it insisted that the action of the UN General Assembly concerning the resolution is another wrong and untimely overt action hindering the sincere diplomatic efforts to put an end to the dispute, sparking off criticism from many countries.
