An enlarged plenary meeting of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took place on October 3.

Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, guided the meeting.

Present there were Vice-Premiers Kim Jong Gwan and Jon Sung Guk and other members of the Cabinet.

Attending it as observers were officials of the organs under the Cabinet, ministries and national agencies, chairpersons of the provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of the agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the third quarterly national economic plan for carrying out the decisions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and discussed the measures for perfectly implementing the important tasks set forth at the Eighth Party Congress.

Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, made a report.

The reporter said that remarkable successes have been made in the implementation of the third quarterly national economic plan through a vigorous drive for increased production and creation for fulfilling the grand revolutionary programme set forth by the great Party Central Committee.

He cited the data to analyze and review the defects and deviations revealed at some units in implementing the third quarterly plan. And he called upon leading economic guidance officials to more firmly arm themselves with the Party's economic policy and fulfill their mission and duty as leading personnel of the revolution in the responsible course for attaining this year's goal of struggle with their scientific planning, skilful command and innovative working style.

The reporter stressed the need to perfectly implement the Party's decisions without an inch of deflection and bring about a substantial turn in the economic development and the improvement of the people's living standards.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

The meeting stressed the ways for more thoroughly establishing the strict work system and order in which all sectors unconditionally obey the Cabinet's decisions and instructions in guiding and managing the economic work and for achieving the stable and sustainable development of the national economy as a whole.

The meeting referred to the practical matters arising in successfully fulfilling the five-year plan and making preparations for entering the next stage of development by further raising the spirit of the all-people advance towards the Ninth Party Congress, and took relevant measures.
