Bust of President Ho Chi Minh erected at Vietnamese embassy in Pyongyang

A bust of President Ho Chi Minh was erected at the Vietnamese embassy in Pyongyang.

An unveiling ceremony took place on the spot on October 10.

Present there were To Lam, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on his state visit to the DPRK, the entourage members of the Vietnamese side, the Vietnamese ambassador to the DPRK and members of his embassy.

Also present there were Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Sang Gil, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK, and officials concerned.

The national anthems of the DPRK and Vietnam were played at the ceremony.

Jo Yong Won and To Lam cut a tape and unveiled the bust.

Inscribed in the bust were the outline of the career of Ho Chi Minh and his exploits in Korean and Vietnamese.

Laid before the bust was a flower basket in the name of To Lam.

All the participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Ho Chi Minh.

At the ceremony, To Lam said that President Ho Chi Minh was the leader of the party and people of Vietnam and the hero of national liberation, adding that the unveiling ceremony was held at a significant time marking the 135th birth anniversary of Ho Chi Minh and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and Vietnam.

Expressing deep thanks to the WPK and the DPRK government for their sincere efforts for erecting the bust, he expressed the will to further develop the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the future, too.

Jo Yong Won paid high tribute to Ho Chi Minh who provided a solid cornerstone of the DPRK-Vietnam friendly relations together with President Kim Il Sung and said that the DPRK will value the friendship between the two parties and peoples of the two countries which has entered a new high stage and make every effort to carry forward the tradition.

He expressed belief that the Vietnamese leadership and people would surely build a prosperous state where the desire of Ho Chi Minh is translated into reality.
