The Chollima Steel Complex directs efforts to readjustment and reinforcement for increasing production.

The complex, which had already finished the maintenance and repair of all electric equipment and cooling water system, introduced the method of continuous charge and that of high-temperature oxidation based on oxygen injection to shorten the tap-to-tap time and increase the output of molten iron per charge.

At the same time, it newly remodelled the pinch rolling device and billet moving roller support axle of the continuous casting machine and increased the number of continuous castings to ensure high productivity.

In the rolling sector, it increased the actual rolling output ratio and put the production on a normal footing by restoring the automatic manipulator, inventing and introducing an intermediate roll fixing device based on screw-down control and updating the control of rolling according to the new design of bottom roll lifting device.

In recent years, the complex has undertaken projects for various systems to establish a new steel production system.

It has already carried out a variety of production plans including the construction of transformer and control rooms and several other production buildings and the making and fixing of a huge amount of steel structures such as roof trusses, columns and column-connecting beams and base beams for overhead cranes.

It also completed the continuous casting machine construction project by installing various kinds of equipment as required by technical specifications.

After conducting the trial power transmission and idle trial run of each system of the ladle refining furnace, the complex newly developed and introduced a program for ensuring the interchangeability of equipment while resolving problems arising in hydrogen generator and pinch rolling and hydraulic equipment, laying another material and technical foundation for increasing the production of iron and steel.

In addition, it introduced into production new inventions including a technical innovation plan which proved to be economically effective and profitable in the process of heating the steel ladle, opening up a bright prospect for lowering the production costs of iron and steel and further enhancing productivity.
