The nationwide wheat processing capacity has so far increased remarkably since the Workers’ Party of Korea put forward the policy on changing the country’s structure of grain production.

The joint command group for the construction of wheat processing bases and the Ministry of Grain Administration steadily pressed on with the projects to expand the capacity for processing wheat in keeping with the growth in the output of wheat.

They stepped up the building and modernization of wheat processing bases in careful consideration of the wheat output and transport conditions in each region.

The grain processing institute gave powerful impetus to the renovation of wheat processing factories while offering positive assistance to relevant units to accelerate the designing of Korean-style wheat processing equipment.

The Pyongyang Grain Processing Machine Factory achieved successes by speeding up the work to make wheat processing machines that suit the trend of development of grain processing equipment.

As a result, the renovation and modernization project of the Haeju Wheat Processing Factory was finished and the Sariwon City Grain Storage Station was wonderfully built in a short time.

Modern wheat processing factories with high production capacity were wonderfully built in Kangnyong County of South Hwanghae Province and Singye County of North Hwanghae Province in a little over a year and the Nampho and Songnim wheat processing factories were modernized at a high level.

Wheat processing bases were also built at the grain storage stations in several cities and counties according to the regional output.

After all, the wheat processing capacity nearly doubled across the country after the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.
