Russia declares intergovernmental agreement with US on scrapping weapon-grade plutonium invalid
October 27, 2025The Federation Council of Russia nullified the intergovernmental agreement with the US on the abolition of weapon-grade plutonium at a plenary meeting on October 22.
Concluded in 2000 and ratified in 2011, the agreement included both sides’ abolition of extra weapon-grade plutonium in the aspect of military planning.
Apart from the agreement, all relevant additional protocols will reportedly be abrogated.
