The number of animals continues to increase at the Central Zoo in Pyongyang. This year, well over a thousand animals of more than 100 kinds have bred, adding to the pleasure of visitors to the zoo.

An Asiatic black bear, an animal presented to Chairman Kim Jong Il by a foreign businessman, brought forth a cub on January 1.

The dogs, gift animals sent by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, also produced puppies.

A Germen Pointer (dog) dropped a puppy in February and a Shih Tzu, a pet dog, produced a couple of puppies.

A Cocker Spaniel and Siberian Reika gave birth to two male puppies respectively in February and August.

And a red goat and sacred baboon, gift animals, reproduced.

A Korean tiger, brown bear and Mongolian horse also gave birth to babies.

Three female baby tigers born in June have remarkably put on weight thanks to the efforts of employees of the zoo and a ten-month-old brown bear and Mongolian horse have grown beyond recognition.

The “new residents” of the Central Zoo give pleasure to working people, youth and schoolchildren visiting the zoo.
