Noting that 808 million people have faced severe starvation worldwide this year, they referred to the need for developing countries to strengthen international cooperation and solidarity and establish a stable, all-embracing and mutually beneficial world food trade order and financial system in order to resolve the crisis.

A world food forum on the theme of “Hand in hand for better food and better future” took place at the building of FAO.

Different countries have taken decisive measures for overcoming the food crisis.
The Brazilian President in a speech at a FAO event emphasized that the name of his country has been deleted from a “world hunger map”, adding that all countries should include the poor in their state budgets and that only when the goal of eradicating hunger turns into a national policy can the problem of hunger and poverty be solved.
The Indonesian Minister of Agriculture said that if everything goes well, Indonesia will not have to import rice anymore in the coming two to three months and that the attainment of the goal will be possible if there is no severe climatic change.
