The grand mass gymnastics and artistic performance “Long live the Workers’ Party of Korea” was staged in splendour at May Day Stadium in Pyongyang in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Party.

The whole audience was totally enchanted by excellent artistic representation by singers highly praising the immortal exploits of the Party and by the beautiful scenes presented by other performers through the unique harmony of ever-changing formations, vigorous gymnastic movements and elegant dance rhythms.

That’s why May Day Stadium had a full house every day of the performance from the premiere.

What was stirring all the people was that all the performers and audience enthusiastically sang the songs in chorus.

As the logo of the 80th anniversary of the Party was displayed against the background and the torch blazed, the performance began with overture "Long Live the Workers' Party of Korea". Then the audience joined the performers in singing as if they had come to the stadium to sing the song in praise of the Party, rather than watching the performance.

Then, what made the Korean people shout “Long live the Workers’ Party of Korea” with deep emotion?

“As the song goes, the WPK is the beacon for us, banner of struggle, bosom of the mother, eternal benefactor and guide for us,” said a member of the audience from Sosong District, Pyongyang.

Many others recollected the significant moment when they had joined the sacred Party and the traces they had left while following the Party and some others who had taken a wrong path in the past remembered with deep emotion the days when the Party led them step by step with maternal affection.

Not only during the overture, but throughout the performance, the audience joined in the singing of hymns to the Party with a sincere voice.

When the song "We Will Follow Our Party Forever" was played, workers, farmers, intellectuals and many others sang it out of a feeling of gratitude to the Party which had a hammer, sickle and writing brush inscribed on its flag.

Then many children in new school uniforms appeared on the ground, as the song “We Are the Happiest in the World” was played. It is a winner of Kim Il Sung Prize and Kim Jong Il Prize and has been lovingly sung by all the Korean people for decades.

While singing the song, the audience recollected the benevolent image of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who said in his New Year Address for 2017 that he would work with devotion to ensure that the past era when all the people used to sing this song, feeling optimistic about the future with confidence in the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, does not remain a moment in history but is re-created in the present era and that he swears on the first morning of the new year to become a true servant who is loyal to the Korean people and supports them faithfully with a pure conscience.

An era of overall development of socialism in which the capital and the provinces change is being ushered in on this land under the energetic guidance of the General Secretary.

Therefore, when the songs in praise of the country were played, the audience sang the songs together with the performers with a firm conviction that the life of the people sharing destiny with their country cannot but be fulfilling and with a resolve to devote their all to the country, which provides them with everything precious, with burning love.

The pride and self-confidence in being the citizens of the DPRK, which continues to demonstrate its dignity and prestige to the world under the wise leadership of the Party, were powerfully expressed through each line of the song “We Are Koreans” passionately loved by the Korean people.

The song represented the boundless gratitude to the great leader and the great Party that have brought up all the Koreans to be the strongest in spiritual ability and was as good as a solemn declaration that they will shape their future and continue to demonstrate to the world the indomitable mettle of the Koreans under the leadership of the General Secretary.

The people’s will to more firmly support the DPRK, a socialist country led by the WPK, with the might that no one else in the world can have was clearly exhibited through the enthusiastic singing of the all-people hymn “Our National Flag”.

The grand chorus of the people resounding through the sky of October was a manifestation of their absolute support for the exploits of the great WPK which has put the dignity and prestige of the country on the highest level and of their pledge to follow the Party to the end of the world.
