Large greenhouse vegetable farms are now boosting vegetable crop yields.

The Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm has steadily raised the level of modernization, intensification and industrialization of vegetable production. In close cooperation with relevant research institutions, it concentrates efforts on reducing the production costs to the maximum and increasing production per unit area and takes appropriate measures.

The farm increases the production at a lower cost than before by filtering and sterilizing the collected used liquid nutrients and adding nutrient elements to them to raise the rate of reuse of liquid nutrients.

While actively introducing the method of vegetable cultivation in box, it also applies the inter aftercropping method, growing vegetable fruits at the green vegetable and root crop greenhouse blocks and vice versa to increase output per unit area.

The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm produces dozens of tons of fresh vegetables and supplies them to the people of South Hamgyong Province including Hamhung City every day.

The farm plans and controls the production vigorously to get abundant vegetable crops including the improvement of the level of scientification of vegetable production and management, the proper supply of quality manure and liquid fertilizer and the steady upgrading of the technical knowledge and skills of its employees.

Its employees paid close attention to ensuring the favourable temperature and humidity for the growth of crops and directed great efforts to manuring and cultivating crops, monitoring the harmful insects, making effective use of the space in greenhouse, growing each plant and others, while manuring and cultivating crops scientifically according to processes, thus increasing the production of vegetable fruits and green vegetables of all varieties.

As a result, hundreds of employees of the farm have so far carried out their production plans for this year.

The Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm also increases the varieties of functional vegetables favoured by the people.

It pressed on with the work to widely introduce distinctive vegetable varieties in collaboration with researchers of the Kangdong central vegetable research institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science and the provincial agricultural science research institute. In particular, it has expanded the area of functional vegetable cultivation while acclimatizing new varieties of vegetables to the regional climatic conditions.

This year, it has achieved notable successes by introducing dozens of varieties of functional vegetables including legume, balsam pear and broccoli.
