Long-term development of regions ensures far future of country
November 7, 2025Gigantic projects are going on vigorously for long-term development of the regions.
It is the plan of the Workers’ Party of Korea to make the capital envious of regions, make the rejuvenation of the regions represent the advance and development of the state and make the ideal appearance of the regions the true image of the Korean-style socialism in the new era.
To renovate the appearance of cities, counties and rural villages, which are regional bases and lowest local units that form the whole territory of the state and support the state system, and to rebuild the regional economy on a completely new and advanced basis and on a nationwide scale—this is the overall development of socialism and the overall rejuvenation of the state.
Last year, the Party adopted the Regional Development 20×10 Policy, which marked a significant start and important occasion in turning all cities and counties into rich and civilized areas with their distinctive features and developing the national economy in a diversified way and, at the same time, a meaningful event in achieving the prosperity of the state.
Now that the great change of rural development is being effected through a tremendous struggle, the simultaneous accomplishment of another gigantic revolutionary stage called the comprehensive development of the regional industry is a revolutionary decision arising from the requirement of the turning point in opening up the period of overall development of socialism.
With the formulation of the new regional development policy, a bright blueprint was drawn up to ensure the long-term development of regions and the task for the first year of the Regional Development 20×10 Policy was successfully carried out.
A product show of the regional-industry factories newly built in 20 cities and counties was held in Pyongyang last April.
The visitors understood the meaning of making the capital envious of the regions through the fact that products of regional-industry factories are on a par with those of central factories in terms of quality standards such as hygienic and nutritional indices and it is hard to distinguish between central and regional products if it were not for the trademarks.
When regional-industry factories with modern and advanced character are built and a development environment which flourishes with advanced civilization by dint of the progress in science, education and public health is established in all cities and counties of the country, the economic foundations of the regions will be firmly laid and a remarkable stride will be made in improving the people’s standard of living along with the economic growth of the country.
