Rural villages undergo transformation
November 15, 2025Three years have passed since the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea discussed and decided on the important plan for building all the rural villages of the country as befit those of a socialist country and in a way that they preserve the characteristics of the relevant areas so as to provide the rural population with a good living environment and achieve the overall development of the state.
In the period, many rural villages including flood-afflicted ones underwent a sea change. The media reported news about moving into new houses in facelifted villages one after another and such events took place not only in flat areas but also at remote mountainous areas to bring pleasure to people. Many farm villages witnessed such events more than twice.
Most recently, such public buildings as office building, cultural hall, clinic, pharmacy, comprehensive welfare service facility, shop, 10-day kindergarten and nursery were newly built at Tapsang-ri of Unsan County in North Phyongan Province and the Jisin Vegetable Farm in Huichon County of Jagang Province, visually showing the transformation of the DPRK’s countryside developing into paradise.
Farm villages are becoming more civilized and beautiful, thanks to the surging enthusiasm and increasing cultural level of agricultural workers across the country who have been provided with new houses.
While keeping their houses tidy and clean, the owners of new houses are planting good species of trees and ground-cover plants around their villages. Therefore, rural villages in different parts of the country are covered with flowers in spring and filled with the sweet fragrance of fruits in autumn.
Agricultural workers will lead a more civilized and happier life in the modern rural villages as beautiful as a picture.
