A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the US for selling munitions to Taiwan at a press conference on November 14.

As to the fact that the US Department of State decided to sell munitions worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Taiwan, the spokesman branded it as an infringement on the sovereignty and security interests of China.

China strongly demands the US stop supporting the forces pursuing “independence” by force of arms and will firmly defend the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of the country by taking all necessary measures, he noted.

On November 15, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Chinese State Council said that the US’ behaviour sent a wrong signal to the forces seeking “independence of Taiwan”, urging it to treat the Taiwan issue seriously.
