Kangwon Province greeted the significant and auspicious event of inauguration which signals the completion of the hydropower stations it pledged before the Party when the whole country is full of the spirit of the vigorous advance of all the people to celebrate the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea as the meeting of great victory and glory.

The Hoeyang Army-People Power Station, which has been completed following the army-people power stations in Ichon, Munchon, Sepho, Phyonggang and Kosong, is the last project of the six hydropower stations on which Kangwon Province has concentrated all its efforts after setting it as a priority task to be carried out without fail for the regional economic development and the improvement of the people's material and cultural life, true to the important assignment of continuing to push ahead with the construction of small- and medium-sized hydropower stations, which was given by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The completion of another power base which the province had envisaged during the five-year plan for national economic development has made it possible for the province to further strengthen its solid foundation for proudly writing a new history of prosperity along with the era of regional development and increase its development potentials for creating a more affluent life by its own efforts.

An inauguration ceremony of the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station was held with splendour on November 20.

The venue of the ceremony was filled with great pride and self-confidence of the people in Kangwon Province who have created valuable assets of prosperity with their own efforts with confidence in their own strength.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attended the inauguration ceremony.

When he arrived at the venue of the ceremony, stormy cheers of "Hurrah!" shook the earth and sky.

All the participants enthusiastically cheered, looking up to Kim Jong Un, who personally visited the power station in the mountainous area to bestow great love and honour on them.

Present there were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and other leading officials of the Party and the government, chief secretaries of the provincial committees of the WPK, chairpersons of the provincial people's committees, officials and workers in Kangwon Province and Hoeyang County, military and civilian builders and employees of the power station.

The national anthem of the DPRK was played.

Ju Mun Jin, chairman of the Kangwon Provincial People's Committee, delivered an inaugural speech.

The speaker said that the people in Kangwon Province, who are imbued with the WPK’s revolutionary idea of self-respect and self-sustenance as absolute truth, greeted the moment of honour of making a report of loyalty and victory to the Party Central Committee on the building of another proud structure. As the building of the six power stations simultaneously by provincial efforts was an uphill and gigantic nature-remaking project surpassing the existing concept and common knowledge, there were not a few obstacles in the way of construction, but thanks to the trust and leadership of the Party Central Committee, Party members and other working people in the province could wage a heroic struggle for the consecutive grand construction full of confidence and courage, he noted.

He referred to the fact that Kim Jong Un solved all the problems and meticulously led the construction of the power stations, saying that it is necessary to help Kangwon Province set an example in realizing the intention of the Party which calls for living on the strength of self-reliance.

He stressed that the power stations built in different parts of the province including the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station are a precious fruition of the revolutionary ideas of Kim Jong Un and a proud monument to the new era erected thanks to his absolute trust in the provincial people and his energetic leadership.

The speaker expressed the firm determination to make Kangwon Province take the lead in the worthwhile struggle for carrying out the tasks at the new stage of socialist construction to be set forth by the Ninth Congress of the WPK true to the ideas and leadership of the Party Central Committee.

In the period when the whole country is filled with enthusiasm to substantially wind up the year 2025 that must be recorded in history without fail as a year of victory, it is very auspicious that the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station is to be inaugurated, he said. He noted that those power stations, which have sprung up in different parts of the province that truthfully tells the history of the struggle of the army and the people to defend the country together, are fortresses of faith in socialism built by the concerted efforts of the soldiers and civilians to make firmer and more beautiful this precious land defended at the cost of blood.

For the future, for the coming generations–this is the inscription to be carved in the power stations in Kangwon Province by the times and history, he said, extending warm thanks, on behalf of the Party Central Committee, to the people in Kangwon Province and the service personnel of the Korean People’s Army for presenting to the Ninth Congress of the Party a valuable asset, which will bring benefits to the coming generations as well, by building solid power production bases, self-reliant and self-supporting, through a resolute and uninterrupted struggle.

Hailing the indomitable spirit of the provincial people who created a history of transformation by braving challenges and their tenacious disposition and mettle of doing without fail what they are determined to do as the great spirit of Kangwon Province, he once again offered encouragement to the conquerors of nature, performers of miracles in the present era, and wished Kangwon Province a new appearance, which will change and prosper day by day, and its people a happier life.

When he finished his speech, all the participants broke into enthusiastic cheers as a token of their gratitude to the great father of the people who places the life and struggle of the people in Kangwon Province at the highest eminence of the times.

Fireworks were set off and a large number of balloons sent up into the sky of November, wonderfully adorning the venue of the inaugural ceremony presenting an immortal picture that will shine forever in the journey of grand advance of self-reliance.

Kim Jong Un shook hands with every official and meritorious person, who performed remarkable labour feats in the construction of the power stations, highly commending them for their efforts and devotion.

He then went round the room dedicated to the history of the power station, control room, generator room, etc. to learn about their conditions.

Saying that Kangwon Province completed the construction of six hydropower stations including the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station during the term of the Eighth Party Central Committee, true to the pledge it made to the Party, he noted that it is a manifestation of the indomitable will of its people to unyieldingly go along the road of self-reliance, following the Party only, with unwavering faith in the justness of the line and policies of the Party.

He described the people in Kangwon Province as the embodiment of the pioneering spirit and model of our times who prove with their steadfast patriotic loyalty and persistent efforts the vitality of the Party's policy which asserts that self-reliance is the only way to survive and nothing is impossible to those who hold self-reliance and self-development as the motive power. And he underscored the need for the whole country to learn after the fighting spirit of the provincial people who unhesitatingly follow even a difficult road to reach the final destination.

When we painstakingly carry on huge tasks without fearing ordeals and difficulties facing us and translate them into proud reality of the present times, it will just become the process of the development of the state and the happy future of our people and the generations to come, he said. He called for redoubling efforts to carry out the historic mission of nationwide development assigned by the times and the revolution for the steady prosperity of the great country and wellbeing of the people.

Looking down upon the magnificent dam of the power station, he said that the might of the great army-people unity is really great and the monumental edifices which have recorded another brilliant page in the history of the struggle of the people in Kangwon Province will hand down forever the patriotic feats of our generation who are ushering in the era of comprehensive national prosperity and writing a new history of regional transformation under the leadership of the Party.

Acquainting himself with the construction of the six hydropower stations Kangwon Province built by its own efforts and a future plan for creating new electricity-generating capacity, he gave precious instructions to be implemented in building hydropower stations and strengthening the independent economic foundations of the province.

He expressed expectations and belief that the people in Kangwon Province would further exert the miraculous power, with which they opened up the definite prospects of solving the electricity problem most essential for developing the economy of their region and improving their material and cultural life, to keep taking the lead in the historic struggle for the victorious advance of the socialist construction of the Korean style.

All the officials and working people in Kangwon Province, who received great love and trust of the Party Central Committee, firmly pledged to erect many more entities of prosperity, which will contribute to the independent economic development and the improvement of the people's living, in the spirit of uninterrupted innovations and successive leaps without a moment's stagnation and thus endlessly add lustre to their honour as the frontrunner of self-reliance.

The splendid inauguration ceremony attended by leading officials of the Party and the government clearly demonstrated the validity and vitality of the ideas and policies of the Party which calls for vigorously opening up a broad avenue for the comprehensive socialist development on the strength of self-reliance, and served as a significant occasion which further boosted the self-confidence that eternal prosperity lies in carving out one’s future by one’s own efforts with belief in one’s strength.
