A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement on November 15 denounced the US military threat to Venezuela.

The threat of the US to use armed forces against the Venezuelan government runs counter to the UN Charter and is an obvious violation of international law, he said, demanding it respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Venezuela.

Referring to the fact that international organizations branded the US attack on vessels committed in the Caribbean and the East Pacific waters under the veil of “anti-drug” as illegal, he said that the US is abusing the drug issue to infringe upon the sovereignty of Venezuela.

The US has reportedly attacked vessels 20 times in the Caribbean and the East Pacific waters since September on the pretext of “anti-drug operations”, killing 80 people.
