The 55th Sports Contest of Artistes took place at the Basketball Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on December 3 and 4.

In the contest, divided into the fields of cinematic art and theatrical art, there were games of various events including Taekwon-Do, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, tennis and tug of war.

Among the spectators were Ju Chang Il, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Sung Jong Gyu, minister of Culture, and officials, creators, artistes, teachers and researchers in the field of culture and the arts.

The field of theatrical art came first in total standings.
