A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense demanded the US observe the one China principle at a press conference on December 15.

The US has recently taken up the Taiwan issue for discussion in a new “state security strategy” and “state defense rights bill”. In connection with this, he said that any outside force’s interference in the Taiwan issue is intolerable as it is the matter of the Chinese themselves.

Only one China exists in the world and Taiwan is part of China, he said, adding that the US should not send a wrong signal to the separatist forces seeking “independence of Taiwan” but stop escalating the tension in the region of the Taiwan Strait.
