Best places are occupied by structures for the people
December 23, 2025Monumental structures for the people have been built in the best places of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
This is evidenced by the structures and cultural recreation grounds located in such scenic places of the capital city of Pyongyang as Jangdae, Namsan and Moran hills and Rungna Island and Ssuk Islet in the Taedong River.
For example, Namsan Hill, where there stands the Grand People’s Study House which was built more than 40 years ago, is an excellent place in the heart of Pyongyang.
Earlier, an architect had submitted a draft of a government office building in that place. However, the Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK took a measure to build the Grand People’s Study House, a temple for all-people learning, in that place which they had spared for 20 years after the Fatherland Liberation War in the 1950s.
The location of the Pyongyang General Hospital that was completed last October is also one of the best places.
When the construction of the hospital at the nice place was brought up for discussion, some officials suggested building it at other site. But the modern hospital for the people was built at the best place on the picturesque banks of the Taedong River in the centre of the capital city.
There are many other structures for the people built in scenic spots of the capital city such as May Day Stadium, Rungna People’s Pleasure Park, Sci-Tech Complex, Pyongyang Baby Home, Pyongyang Orphanage and Pyongyang Old People’s Home.
Such structures are not confined to Pyongyang.
Bases for cultural and leisure activities of the people, camps for schoolchildren and holiday camps for scientists have been built in scenic attractions of all other parts of the country, including Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area, the most excellent maritime park and marvellous holiday resort in Myongsasimni, a beauty spot along the East Sea of Korea, the Songdowon International Children’s Camp located in another beauty spot of Songdowon and the Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp by the picturesque Lake Yonphung.
It is the principle upheld by the WPK and the DPRK government that scenic spots are necessary for the good of people and they can prove their value and significance as beauty spots only when they resound with the happy laughter of the people who enjoy cultural and emotional life to their heart’s content.
