Chinese FM rejects Japan’s ‘theory of nuclear possession’

A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Japan’s “theory of nuclear possession” at a press conference on December 22.

Recently, a senior official in charge of security policies of Japan openly stated that Japan should possess nuclear weapons and its defence minister said that “any option will not be excluded” as to the possibility of revising the “three non-nuclear principles”, which the Chinese spokesman dubbed as a serious threat to peace and security of the region and the world.

In connection with the Japanese media’s earlier reports that the Prime Minister was planning to amend the “three non-nuclear principles”, the relevant remarks can never be glossed over as the “behaviour of individuals”, the spokesman said.

China and peace-loving countries of the world strongly demand that Japan abandon its wild dream of challenging the postwar international order and stop running wild along the wrong path, he stressed.
