Nation celebrates New Year 2026

The visitors paid high tribute to the peerlessly great men at the plaza of the palace.
Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students visited the statues of the great leaders on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang and other statues and mosaics depicting the peerlessly great men across the country to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers and pay homage to them.
Children and pupils of primary schools across the country received gifts associated with the loving care of the motherly Workers’ Party of Korea on the occasion of the new year.
A performance was given by artistes of the National Acrobatic Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre.
A one-act play “The person I find” was put on stage at the National Theatre to add to the festive mood of Pyongyang citizens.
Schoolchildren in Pyongyang gave a New Year performance to sing of the joy of greeting the New Year which will be filled with more happiness thanks to the guidance of the great fatherly leader.
Performances were also given in South Phyongan, North Hwanghae, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang provinces and Nampho Municipality. Sports and amusement games of officials, working people, youth and students in South Hamgyong Province were held at the provincial sports village and Hamhung Stadium.
New Year performances were given by children in North Phyongan, South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces, Kaesong Municipality and other parts of the country.
Cultural recreation grounds for the people, including the Central Zoo, Natural History Museum and Munsu Water Park, were crowded with working people, students and children.
Graceful illuminations in different parts of the capital city splendidly decorated the night of New Year’s Day.
The happy looks of people skating and sleighing in the open-air ice rink adorned with dazzling lighting in the central part of Pyongyang added ecstasy to the night view of the holiday.
