Socialist rural communities undergo drastic change in appearance
January 5, 2026The rural communities of the country have taken on a new appearance day after day.
Last year, the fourth year of implementing the new programme of the Workers’ Party of Korea for the rural revolution, too, the news about the happy events of moving into new houses throughout the country was reported day after day.
New villages were built in succession across the country from a remote mountain village to the farm at the end of the Yonbaek Plain, a granary on the west coast, in all four seasons and ordinary farmers settled there.
In December, happy events of moving into new houses took place every day in the rural villages including the Woltang Farm in Sinwon County, the Naejung Farm in Yomju County, the Jangphyong Farm of the Jagang Provincial Rural Economy Committee and the Songji Farm in Huichon City.
In November, the construction of farmhouses planned for last year was rounded off in Ryanggang Province and Rason Municipality, adding to the pleasure and delight of the people.
Cheerful peasant music was heard in the fairyland villages which turned into socialist paradises and farmers held dance parties with joy of having received new houses gratis at the same time.
Unlike 2024, rural villages were built to highlight the distinctive features of each region, dwelling houses including cosy living rooms, kitchens, washrooms, storehouses and others were so designed to provide every convenience to the owners.
The owners of new houses said that they had never imagined that such a phenomenal appearance would be created in their mountainous counties and they felt as if they were dreaming as they, ordinary farmers who had done nothing great for the country but only farming all their life, were provided with such splendid new houses.
Modern public buildings and production buildings were newly built as well as new farmhouses at different farms including the Tapsang Farm in Unsan County, bringing farmers the pleasure and joy of leading a new cultured life.
Agricultural workers also changed beyond recognition along with the sea change in the socialist rural communities.
According to Kung Song Chol, manager of the Phungthan Farm in Sunchon City, 380 farmers had produced high yields in 2024 and the number increased considerably last year.
Farmers unanimously cited the new dwelling houses before anything else as the secret of their surprising achievement, he added.
They are deeply conscious that the only way to return the favour shown by the country, which provided them with splendid houses gratis, is to fill the granary of the country by doing farming well.
As many agricultural workers put their heart and soul into farming as real farmers, they reap a bountiful harvest at every farm and in each plot.
