Thongloun Sisoulith, president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, made his New Year address on the occasion of the New Year 2026.

Last year, all Lao people, firmly united, successfully overcame difficulties and challenges, maintained socio-political stability and order, achieved economic growth at an accelerating speed and enhanced the position and role of the state in the regional and international arenas, he noted.

Referring to the fact that they will hold such important political events as a major meeting of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and an election and launch into the implementation of the party’s political programme and the new five-year socio-economic development plan in the new year, he called upon the people to make Laos more powerful and rich by carrying forward the tradition of unity and solidarity, displaying the spirit of overcoming difficulties, consciousness of being masters as Lao people and spirit of independence and mobilizing all efforts and wisdom.
