Kim Song, permanent representative of the DPRK to the United Nations, issued the following press statement on January 13:

Another abnormal meeting was convened in the UN arena today, undermining and sacrificing the sacred name and noble mission of the UN, a guide and absolute symbol of justice and equality.

It called into question the retaliatory blow of Russia.

The emergency meeting of the UN Security Council convened at Ukraine's unilateral insistence never means the international support for and encouragement to the appeal of a "victim".

It is just an extension of the customary practice of the Western fault-finders who used to groundlessly slander a sovereign state for its just exercise of the right to self-defence.

Those that should be the target of denunciation and rejection are just the Kiev authorities who committed illegal military terrorist attacks on Russia and the forces that actively patronized them.

I express serious concern and strongly denounce and reject the shameless acts of Ukraine which takes issue with Russia’s legitimate measures while covering up its heinous terrorism against Russia.

The Ukrainian crisis was undeniably caused by the confrontation policy of the US and the West which have escalated NATO's eastward advance in violation of Russia's reasonable and legitimate security interests.

The responsibility for all the incidents lies entirely with the parties that created the preconditions for them.

The terrorist act targeting the absolute sovereignty of a country can never be justified by any means, and retaliation of justice can never be demonized by any argument.

The use of military means by the armed forces of the Russian Federation is an expression of its absolute will not to tolerate threats to its national sovereignty in the slightest and a just exercise of the right to defend its legitimate rights and interests.

The DPRK is consistent and invariable in its stand to fully support and encourage the just cause of the Russian Federation for defending the national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests.

The international community should sharpen vigilance against the West's sinister attempt to turn black into white, distort facts and invert the victim into assailant, and should make responsible efforts to defend genuine international justice, peace and stability.
