The Tokyo Shimbun on January 9 carried an article titled “US threat and blackmail out of common sense” denouncing the reckless moves of the US.

The Japanese newspaper asserted that the US is instigating the separatist forces and threatening to use force of arms in a bid to take over Greenland, an autonomous region of Denmark, which is nothing but a mixed war combining military pressure with non-military means.

It disclosed that the US’ declaration that it would not hesitate to use armed forces was geared to treating Greenland like a part of its territory and seizing the sea route across the Arctic as well as the resources in the region.

It is a violent act that the US turned its back on international cooperation and announced its withdrawal from more than 60 international organizations, it noted.
