Today, young people of the DPRK are significantly celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.

The Korean youth movement has been able to adorn its 80-year history with victories and glory thanks to the politics of attaching importance to the youth pursued by the Workers’ Party of Korea.

President Kim Il Sung, who started his revolutionary activities with youth work, set the youth problem as a strategic issue of the revolution and successfully settled it.

Immediately after Korea’s liberation, he saw to it that the Democratic Youth League was formed as a mass youth organization by rallying the masses of young people from all walks of life under the slogan “Patriotic youth, unite under the banner of democracy!”

Under his leadership, the Korean youth came to have a revolutionary organization which enabled them to devote their youthful strength and enthusiasm to the country and the people and perform immortal feats in the building of a new Korea, the grim Fatherland Liberation War to drive out the aggressors and the building of the socialist society where the people are masters.

The politics of attaching importance to the youth provided and applied by the President was more successfully administered under the leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

The Chairman put his heart and soul into preparing young people as reliable reserves of the Party and successors to the revolutionary cause of Juche.

He published works to illuminate the way ahead of the youth movement and made sure that the trait of attaching importance to the youth prevailed throughout the country.

In addition, he saw to it that the youth league was renamed as required and aspired by young people and Youth Day was designated.

Thanks to his trust and love, the young people could fully demonstrate the mettle of the Korean youth in the struggle to defend socialism and the confrontation with the US also in the period of hardship in the 1990s when the country and socialist cause faced unprecedented ordeals.

The proud history of the Korean youth movement is being given steady continuity by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

He placed great trust in young people, saying that the prosperous future will be accelerated thanks to their dynamic efforts. And he led them step by step to perform feats in the building of a powerful socialist country and highly praised the successes achieved by them.

Today, under his leadership and loving care, monumental structures shining with the appellation of “youth” are rising up one after another across the country and the number of young heroes, young PhDs and young people of virtue is on a steady increase.

On January 2 this year, the General Secretary visited the construction site of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm to warmly congratulate and encourage the young builders greeting the new year.

The Korean youth movement, which recorded a proud history under the guidance of the President and the Chairman, will surely write a history of greater feats under his leadership.
