The Academy of Forest Science has been built on a modern basis.

The academy has all facilities and conditions, including an office building in a distinctive architectural style, welfare facilities and a pilot plant and auxiliary building for studying and developing various kinds of processed wild fruits. Its completion laid another foundation for putting the afforestation on a scientific basis.

Its inauguration ceremony was held on January 19.

Present there were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Kim Jong Gwan and officials, researchers and employees of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, Pyongyang Construction Commission, Academy of Forest Science and relevant units.

Kim Jong Gwan addressed the ceremony.

He called on the researchers of the academy to bring about a radical turn in the work to breed more trees suited to the climatic and soil conditions of the country, study and perfect new tree-planting methods and acclimatize trees of good species with the main emphasis on solving the problems arising in afforestation and forest conservation.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the academy.
