Eight European countries issue joint statement against tariff pressure by US
January 26, 2026On January 18, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK issued a joint statement against the US’ tariff pressure on them as regards Greenland.
Issued in regard to the fact that the US threatened to impose 10 percent tariff on the countries which do not follow its plan to annex Greenland, the joint statement expressed dissatisfaction, saying that the annexation attempt of the US might put transatlantic relations into a vicious cycle.
Earlier, the countries said that they would take a unanimous countermeasure for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Greenland.
