Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov decried the confrontational policy of the West at a press conference on January 20.

Saying that the “isolation of Russia” much touted by the West has not been realized, he disclosed that the attempt to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia still remains in the minds and plans of politicians of European countries.

Russia will not tolerate the West’s bid to rearm Ukraine and use it as a puppet, he said, adding that the “security guarantee” proposed by the West to Ukraine is in fact aimed at maintaining the Nazi regime in the country.

Russia will consistently defend its interests and will not infringe upon the legal rights of any others in that connection, he stressed.
