Russian President Vladimir Putin in a letter on January 27 stressed that Russia will never forget the heinous crimes of Nazism completely destroyed by the Red Army of the USSR.

Russia worships the courage and fortitude of all the people who fought in the guerrilla units and underground organizations despite the most severe ordeals and who contributed to bringing about a great victory in the war by working in the rear and crushing the enemy, he said.

He paid tribute to the heroism of the officers and men of the Red Army who had saved different nations from the crisis of extinction.
