Chinese FM dissuades citizens from travelling Japan during lunar New Year holiday
February 4, 2026Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested its citizens to refrain from travelling to Japan in the period of celebrating lunar New Year’s Day.
According to the ministry, in Japan, public security is unstable, crimes targeting Chinese citizens are rife and earthquakes are continuously occurring in some regions causing casualties.
The ministry and the Chinese embassy and consulate in Japan called on Chinese citizens not to go to Japan and those already in the country to enhance safety awareness and pay attention to protecting themselves while keeping an eye on the public security situation and natural disaster alarms in the relevant localities.
