A department director of the Iranian Foreign Ministry called the German ambassador to Iran on January 29 to denounce and reject the reckless, interventionist and provocative remarks made by the German chancellor against his country and its armed forces.

He made a protest as to the fact that the German chancellor accused the Iranian government of relying on “strength and terrorism” and talked about the issue of designating the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as a “terrorist organization”, and asserted that the chancellor is not in a moral position to teach them about the Iranian citizens’ human rights.

Any attempt to brand the elite unit of the Iranian armed forces as a “terrorist organization” constitutes a wanton violation of international law and the security and sovereignty of Iran, he said, adding Iran will resolutely counter such moves.
