General Secretary Kim Jong Un’s Revolutionary Activities

The enlarged meeting of the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea took place at the headquarters building of the Party Central Committee on February 23.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, presided over the plenary meeting.

Attending the meeting were members and alternate members of the WPK Central Committee who were elected at the Ninth Party Congress.

Present there as observers were officials of the departments of the Party Central Committee, senior officials of ministries, national agencies, provinces, cities, counties and major industrial establishments and relevant commanding officers of the Korean People's Army.

Saying that today they are to start the first work to fulfil the responsible mission of the ninth-term Party central leadership elected by the unanimous will of all the delegates and all other Party members at the historic Party Congress, the General Secretary warmly congratulated the members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee newly elected thanks to the great trust and expectations of the Party and the people.

The Presidium of the Political Bureau and the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee headed by the General Secretary were elected at the enlarged meeting of the First Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Party Central Committee.

Secretaries of the Party Central Committee were elected and the Secretariat was formed.

The Central Military Commission and the Central Inspection Commission of the WPK were elected.

The plenary meeting discussed the work related to the inner-Party structure arising as an essential requirement in realizing the Party's political leadership and unanimously approved a relevant decision.

Department directors of the Party Central Committee and chief secretaries of the provincial committees of the Party were appointed.

Commanding officers for the key posts of the KPA were appointed.

The meeting decided to discuss the work plan for 2026 for implementing the decisions of the Ninth Party Congress, make a joint study of draft decisions reflecting this year's plan at the sectional study and consultative meetings for drawing up a new five-year plan to be carried out in the period of the Party Congress, and bring together opinions so as to submit them for deliberation at the newly-elected Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee.

It also decided to discuss the agenda item on the revision of the collection of slogans set forth by the Party Central Committee and the guide to the WPK Rules, and get the members of the Party Central Committee to study the relevant drafts and the Political Bureau to deliberate on them before distributing them to the whole Party.

The enlarged meeting decided to deliberate and decide on draft cadre recommendations concerning the formation of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly and the Cabinet and refer them to the new-term Supreme People's Assembly.

Now that we are facing the new five years which will be part of the glorious Party history, whether or not the Ninth Party Central Committee fulfils its heavy mission entrusted by the supreme leadership entirely depends on the high sense of responsibility and activity of the members of the Party central leadership, the General Secretary said. He called on the members of the leadership to do their utmost to fulfil their heavy and sacred duty with a high degree of Party spirit, revolutionary spirit and loyalty to the people so as to live up to the great trust and expectations of the Party members and other people.

The subjective and objective conditions and environment of the Korean revolution will not be favourable even in the period of implementing the new long-term plan, but we should firmly take the strategic initiative, remain proactive and make redoubled efforts on full alert in order to bring about marked growth in the strength of the Party and the state and provide the people with greater wellbeing, he stressed.
