Determined efforts make talents
February 27, 2026More than ten years have passed since the Workers’ Party of Korea put forward the policy on making all the people well versed in science and technology to train all members of society into talents possessed of deep sci-tech knowledge and great creative abilities.
In those days, the Sci-Tech Complex was splendidly built as a temple for all-people learning and a hub of disseminating latest science and technology and the sci-tech learning spaces were built in all areas and units across the country, and thus a large number of working people have become intelligent workers and sci-tech talents.
At the Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory, for example, a total of hundreds of workers have made a positive contribution to the production and development of the factory through the development and introduction of many new technical innovations and inventions in the past ten-odd years amid the growing enthusiasm of its employees for studying science and technology.
Among the working people who are taking an active part in the development of science and technology are smelters, coal miners cutting coal in deep pits and agricultural workers cultivating the fields.
Though their workplaces and occupations are different, what is common to them is that most of them are those who are enrolled at or finished the online education course under the study-while-you-work system.
Choe Myong Sok, an experimenter of a unit under the Ministry of Information Industry, received certificates of introduction of state sci-tech hits by making sci-tech achievements conducive to the modernization of broadcasting equipment while studying at the online education faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology.
According to an official of the faculty, there are many talents indispensable to their units like Choe Myong Sok among its undergraduates and graduates and their number is increasing with each passing day.
Many working people study hard at the sci-tech learning spaces at their workplaces and contribute to solving technical problems arising in production.
When the modernization of equipment presented itself as a vital requirement in the field of communications, O Chung Song, a mechanic of the Kumya County Post Office under the South Hamgyong Provincial Posts and Telecommunications Management Bureau, conducted painstaking research for several years while avidly reading sci-tech data at the sci-tech learning space and thus developed a new digital general measuring device of a Korean style.
According to data available, a large number of working people across the country have won academic degrees, certificates of invention and patents by achieving valuable scientific and technological successes since the Party advanced the policy on making all the people well versed in science and technology.
They unanimously say that when you are determined, you can become a talent under this socialist system, in which all conditions are provided for studying while working.
