New residents in Central Zoo

February 27, 2026

The number of residents in the Central Zoo is on the increase in the new year.

According to an official of the zoo, five species of gift animals produced more than ten younglings.

A West Siberian Laika, a gift hound sent by the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un in December 2018, gave birth to two babies. The sweet puppies frolic around and follow at their mother’s heels, raising a smile on every visitor’s lips.

The pet dog of spitz also brought forth three puppies.

Each of them was about 120 grams in weight on average at birth and now weighs around 800 grams on average.

The number of hamadryas baboons which have inhabited the Central Zoo for decades also increased.

Holidaymakers at the zoo are delighted to see the pretty young baboons keep coming and going between tree branches and sometimes throw themselves in the arms of their mothers for fear of anything people don’t know and blink their eyes.

In addition, Selenarctos thibetanus and other gift animals gave birth to healthy younglings in succession.
