The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations denounced Israel for its moves for territorial expansion at a recent open session of the UN Security Council on the Palestine-Israel issue.

Taking issue with the fact that Israel is enforcing the registration of land in the West Bank and taking administrative and law-enforcement measures in the region, he said that this is aimed at expanding the occupation of the Palestinian territory and undermines the political foundation for the two-state proposal.

The main reason why the Palestinian issue has not been solved to date is that the two-state proposal has failed to be implemented and Palestine has failed to build a country by achieving independence, he noted.

He stressed that Israel should lend an ear to the voice of the international community and stop building settlements, encroaching on the Palestinian territory and destroying the management base of the Palestinian national authorities.
