Russian president refers to bio-economic development

March 2, 2026

Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the issue of bio-economic development as he addressed the future technology forum on February 25.

The government should work out a bio-economic development plan and include it in the documents which define the fulfilment of tasks for food and biological security and the systematic development of public health, electric power, agriculture, industry and others, he said.

Saying that the study of bio-economy should give impetus to regional development, he noted that many university and college graduates have still fallen behind the current level of the development of bioengineering in the domain of knowledge and therefore vocational education curriculums should be updated and practical education of students expanded in this field.
