Chinese FM spokesman decries Japan’s wrong attitude to Taiwan issue

March 26, 2026

A spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry criticized the Japanese authorities for taking a dubious attitude to the bounds of a “survival-threatening situation” related to Taiwan at a press conference on March 19.

The spokesman said that Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi made wrong remarks about Taiwan, thus openly interfering in the internal affairs of China and revealing a wild ambition to intervene in the Taiwan issue by force of arms.

He added that it is hard for Japan to explain their acts with the phrase “invariable stand” and that it cannot gain trust of surrounding countries and the international community with the phrase.

China strongly urges Japan to correct its mistake and stop taking the wrong road, he stressed.
