Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, received a congratulatory message from Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China, on March 26.

The message said:

Respected Comrade President Kim Jong Un,

I extend sincere congratulations to you at the glad news that you were elected again as president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the First Session of the 15^th Supreme People’s Assembly.

I sincerely wish that the DPRK would constantly achieve fresh and greater successes in the cause of socialism under the leadership of the WPK.

The traditional China-DPRK friendship is a precious common asset of the two countries.

It is the consistent and steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to successfully defend, consolidate and develop the bilateral ties.

Last year I met Comrade President again to have a common understanding of various important issues and open up a new phase of the China-DPRK relations.

I highly value the development of the China-DPRK relations and I am willing to strive together with Comrade President to promote the steady development of the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and provide the two countries and their peoples with better welfare.
