This year, a new education programme will be carried out in the primary and secondary education sector from the new school year.

The main thing in the programme is the elective education course.

This course covers the fields of literature, science, the arts, physical education and technology, and each field covers detailed subjects.

It is designed for senior middle schools and technical senior middle schools.

This means that primary schools and junior middle schools impart general knowledge according to the unified standard curricula set by the state, while senior middle schools and technical senior middle schools provide students with education in the fields of literature, science, the arts, physical education and technology according to the wish and individual character of students, so that each of them can have more than one kind of technical skill in the stage of secondary education.

In order to implement the new education programme, the education sector has worked out new compulsory educational curricula, compiled textbooks and applied the elective education course in different cities and counties on a trial basis.

In addition, a crash course on the new curricula was run for officials in the education sector and educators, teaching forces were built and material and technical foundations were laid in close contact with provinces, cities and counties and other preparations were made.

Last January, a national practical training course in the education sector was offered for the implementation of the second universal 12-year compulsory education programme. After the training course, the participants toured different areas where the new education programme has been introduced on a trial basis since last year to listen to their experiences and learn from them.
