Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to the causes of the deterioration of relations with Europe and the Ukrainian crisis in a consultative meeting with permanent members of the Security Council on March 27 through video-conferencing. 

Now the relations between Russia and Europe are in a critical situation, he said, adding that it is not due to Russia.

Saying that the responsibility for it lies with the leaderships of major European countries and with the US, he emphasized that the coup staged in Ukraine in 2014 with the backing of the West was the very starting point for the tragic situation that has so far lasted in the country.
