Chinese representative demands permanent ceasefire in Gaza
April 2, 2026The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations asserted that a permanent ceasefire should be achieved in the Gaza Strip as he addressed the recent open session of the UN Security Council on the Palestine-Israel issue.
He exposed that lots of Palestinians have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip even after the ceasefire deal was concluded, due to Israel’s persistent attack.
Israel has tightened restriction on the introduction of humanitarian materials and closed the border route to Rafah on several occasions, thus further aggravating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he criticized.
China urges Israel to honour the ceasefire agreement in full measure, fulfil its obligation with respect to international humanitarian law and open up border routes, he stated.
Saying that the reasonable plan for resolving the Palestinian issue is just the two-state proposal, he stressed that the international community should implement it and support Palestine in establishing an independent state as early as possible.
