Robot education draws public interest

April 18, 2026

The introduction of advanced science and technology has brought about new developments in the field of education.

A typical example is robot education.

Robot education is considered as a comprehensive and future-oriented education that can provide students with multidisciplinary knowledge.

It is also suited to the psychological characteristics of the younger generation.

Geometric robots, for instance, arouse the keen interest of students.

A cylindrical robot helps students learn with actual objects the mathematical knowledge on the calculation of the area of a circle and a cylinder and π (ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter) and, in the course of building and operating the robot, they can acquire knowledge of the stability of objects and the change in the centre of gravity as well as programming skills.

Such geometrical robots provide children and students with a concept of space and foster their imagination, conception and creativity.

In addition, the course of conceiving, designing and operating unique geometrical forms serves as an occasion for a scientific and comprehensive assessment of the students’ performance.

Pyongyang Teachers Training College, which is playing a leading role in the introduction of robot education, hosted a robot contest in the field of general education last year to disseminate the robot education method developed by it throughout the country, attracting public attention.

The robot contest in the field of general education which was held last year for the second time after the one in 2024 contributed to training students into development-and-creation-oriented talents possessed of practical abilities by stirring up their interest in science and technology from their childhood and actively involving them in the research and practical activities through robot education.
