The DPRK is a country that adds glory to labour innovators and persons of merit who have contributed to the prosperity of the country with diligent labour.

Among those who had the honour of having a photo taken with the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un on the morning of New Year’s Day in 2022 was a female high-yield farmer in Kangnam County. After meeting the General Secretary at the Fourth National Conference of Activists in the Agricultural Sector, she voluntarily took charge of the cold and damp paddy fields with poor yield and reaped a good harvest there. The country awarded her the title of heroine and invited her to the celebrations of the 73rd founding anniversary of the DPRK.

Employees of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill still remember May Day of over 10 years ago.

In the run-up to May Day in 2014, the General Secretary inspected the newly-built hostel of employees of the mill. That day, looking round its interior and exterior, he expressed satisfaction and proposed holding a grand banquet for the workers at the hostel in celebration of upcoming May Day. As a result, a grand banquet was held for the workers at the mill on May Day.

There is Pothong Riverside Terraced Houses District on the picturesque banks of the Pothong River in Pyongyang.

All the owners of the houses are labour innovators and persons of merit. They were given the title of patriot and settled in the new houses envied by all to receive warm blessings of the General Secretary.

The Ko Kyong Chan-led Hero Workteam of the Komdok Mining Complex is well known throughout the country. In a congratulatory message sent to the workteam after it overfulfilled its yearly plan for mineral production in 2017, the General Secretary said that what the Workers’ Party of Korea believes in is not any mysterious divine power, but the spiritual strength of the great people who support the Party and the leader with single-hearted and pure loyalty, and that the Party steps up the building of a powerful socialist country by relying on the revolutionary spirit and creativity of the Korean working class best in the world.

The workers of the Sangwon Cement Complex, who made miraculous successes in the cement production in 2015, received a congratulatory message from the General Secretary and attended a grand ceremony of awarding Party and state commendations on the spot. It was a special event that well over a thousand employees of a complex were awarded such commendations at the same time on the same day, and what was more surprising was that the two winners of the title of Labour Hero, the highest honour for the DPRK citizens, among them were ordinary workteam leaders.

After participating in the New Year celebrations in 2026, Pak Song Il, section chief of the Paper Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, said that he had only tried to fulfil his duty as a scientist. And Jo Hyok Chol, who has worked at the Sangwon Cement Complex for decades, said that he had only displayed his sense of responsibility to carry out his assignment for increased cement production.

The Korean working people unanimously say that they follow and support the WPK and the socialist country with all their soul, calling them their mother, because the Party and the country make their life fulfilling and give them greatest dignity and honour.
